| I are, just another coast musician. An old-schooler. I was retired for 5 years, but a friend talked me into doing a cover project for shits & giggles. We call ourselves The Dixie Pricks, cause we are proud of where we are from, and some of us are basically pricks and we just thought it was a funny reference to The Dixie Chicks. I personally can't wait to see which clubs are gonna put it on the sign outside.
We're a new band, but we are made up of old-schoolers. We consist of left-overs from previous bands: Slob (both versions), Gridlock, High Jimmy, Guzzo, and even Death & Taxes (very old school for some of you that remember the Crazy Horse days). At the moment we are basically covering 80's type metal (Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Metal Church, Dio, ect...), but we also will bust out 70's (Sabbath,Judas Priest), 90's (Alice In Chains, Soundgarden), and newer stuff (Slipknot, HIM, ect...). We eventually will write stuff, as well as doing one or two originals from our previous bands, but at the moment we are just trying to learn enough covers to get started gigging.
We played the Coast Coliseum Fair this past May as an emergency fill-in for a band that cancelled at the last minute. It went very well. Our next gig is this Sunday, 12/10 at Nicks Place in Orange Grove from 8-11pm. It's basically a public birthday party for my wife's 30th. Everyone is welcome to show up.
And that is who I is. Bet you're sorry you asked. |
