THANK YOU BERT (and others)

I need to send a "THANK YOU" out to Bert (and I can't remember who else)..
for sending me to MMI Music in Mobile, AL.

John and Dwight are great fellas.
MMI Music gave us great customer service and the store is HUGE.

They have a great selection on Guitars and amps
new and used.

They sell locally made pedals, slides, and guitars as well.

We bought a used amp ;VOX 120 WITH pedal for $450.
The amp we bought lists for $900 and the pedal goes for another $200 bucks or so.
GREAT DEAL! GREAT SERVICE
THANK YOU!

Yeah, they are great guys, and will treat you like family every time you go there.

If you are interested in pedals built by local musicians, or if you like to support local craftsmen, check out http://www.myspace.com/rockandrollworkshop ,

He use to play in Nuees Ardentes, and now lives in Atlanta. He makes some different sounding stuff... if you are interested in noises. I do not know if his stuff is at MMI or not.

i think you are one of the guys who turned me on to them.
besides magnolia music (which is 5 minutes from my house)
I will ALWAYS use MMI or at least consider them for any major purchases in the future.

it makes me sick
we returned an amp to Guitar Center and the place was buzzing like a Wal-Mart...
hardley ANYONE was at MMI.
I hope they stay open.
Awsome music store.

I think they do pretty well, but Guitar Center does draw the "trend" musicians. The Guitar Center here is a joke, they hired a guy I knew to sell guitars, and the guy could barely play a G chord, no joke, I am being serious. I try to avoid that place.

MMI is OK when they know you've got money to spend~
I like most of the staff there and they do have a lot of stock on hand.

Whenever possible though, I like to deal w/ Tommy at West Mobile Music. He doesn't have a lot on hand, but he can usually help you find a good deal on whatever you're looking for. And I don't think you can beat his selection of acoustics.
xush is online now

To each their own.
GC is the walmart of music stores.
You all know how I fell about conglomerates.
Matt I'm glad you got the deal you were looking for.
What no mesa boogie for you?
Vox is pretty good stuff.
Can't wait to hear it bro.

MMI was more expensive before Guitar Center came to town, but I always got great deals on Squier level, cheaper guitars (when I didn't have the money to spend on good equipment). They use to have a great used selection, that is where I got my first Dean.

Did you see all the Deans? They do not have a large selection, but they normally have a fair amount.

Dwight is the guitar guru there.
John Mathern is he owner but I think they all have a finger in the pie per se.
MMI has the high end gear for the pro players.
They have limited beginner lines.

No, but don't you want someone who is knowledgeable? I do not trust the techs if I can not trust the sales people. It just looks bad all together. I want a sales person who can tear that guitar apart and put it back together... I mean hell, they need to at least be able to hook the amps up, right?

I want a Corvette salesman to be knowledgeable, and be a fanatic about the car, I expect no less out of someone who is selling gear to me. Music is serious bidness...

Oh, I wouldn't consider Crate high end gear, but I am sure MMI has it. I do not know if they carry B.C. Rich, I am sure they have a few. But if you like Fender and PRS, this could be the place for you. I think they have scaled down on Gibson, since Gibson is being Neo-Nazi with their line of products. They have just about every major guitar line out there.
