referring to the kids involved with today's music scene, my good friend dave mcwane once said, "it's not a fucking fashion show." truer words have never been spoken.
| Awesome. I felt this way when going to pick up my StereoHype CD from one of their shows at the VFW (NOTHING against StereoHype - they know how to lay it down!) Just the vast majority of the fans that were there were wearing the 'punk uniform'. |

Rep Power: 47 | | | i see it as the ways kids are today. I was reminded of this just yesterday when I noticed two kids walking down the street. as to described these young gentlemen, I'll use words from my own vocabulary. long haired, tight jean wearin, black rock tee with some chucks on the feet.
Now what struck me as odd was, 20 years ago, you would see a couple of dudes walking down the street, sportin the denim jeans, and more than likely a denim jacket, with appropriate signage on the back in the form of a "backpatch". remember those? so, the odd part is, the kids now are really not that different than kids 20 years ago. Maybe in '87, you might see them walking with a big green glass bottle of mountain dew!
I say, give the kids a break these days. because all we are being is our parents in '87 when they harped on about how "stupid we look".

Rep Power: 26 | | "I want to be different, just like everyone else!" I don't recall when I first saw that quote, but it's profound to me. Kids will try to be rebellious, but they can't help flocking to cliques of whatever sort. even the anti-image of the 80s thrash bands became the uniform you described.
There's nothing wrong with it either. It's no more or less ridiculous than what we did back in the 70s and 80s when I was young and the amps ran on steam! I am just happy to see that rock survives today in a recognizable form. Do I always get it? No, but that's sort of the point too. It's their statement to make. It's kind of natural to have that kneejerk reaction, but as you said, we can think, and relate, to where they are.
The more things change, the more they stay the same... Quote:
