Anyway, that's my real response to your post. Sorry for the childish, stupid one.

Clockwork saying that I cherry pick his posts and twist his words, "Read my last post and notice the line And I'm not saying "Let's all go crazy and start programming the future!" And then in your response you typed... I mean hell man "evolution will proceed" anyway so screw it let's just have a free for all."

Nice try Clockwork.

Since the VERY FIRST POST in this thread it has been your position that anyone who opposes spending EVERY FUCKING CENT that your side wants on this issue is a "scared whiner republican" who lives in the past and fears change. You started off decrying Bush as horrible for many reasons one of which he isn't spending as much on embryonic research as you would like. When I express concerns, you dismiss them out-of-hand and resort to characterizing me as someone who should go back to listening to my records backwards in an attempt to find satanic messages.

And now you say, "And I'm not saying "Let's all go crazy and start programming the future!"

Oh really Clockwork? Well SEVERAL TIMES now in this thread you have expressed the view that we should just "trust" the scientists. They are only trying to master our race and that is a good thing so we shouldn't worry about HOW that occurs. You have said, "We are not immortal and it is our job to find every method possible for increased survival."

So you did not say the EXACT WORDS "let's go crazy and start programming the future" but you seem opposed to any safeguards and judging from your post have ABSOLUTELY NO CONCERNS WHATSOEVER with this technology. I say this because EVERY TIME I have raised a concern you have dismissed it out of hand usually with some cliched juvenile comment.

Oh well, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. It's apparent that neither of us is going to convince the other.

I never said trust the scientists. That's twice now on two different threads that you have "put words into my mouth".
Nice try, Wilthrill.
I'm not opposed to safeguards. I disagree with the ones that will dramatically slow or altogether stop the r&d.
I never said we should trust the scientists. We should have faith and trust in humanity that we can overcome these cynical odds your position could place us under.

The reason I resort to fun jive is because you don't listen to reason. Like Ben said in his post of most conservatives, you resorted to labeling my views as liberal and dismissed them accordingly. So I'd say we're both being childish.
If you cannot admit that then there is no point in discussing it further.

Hmmm, this is one of the hardest times in our history to be President. No matter what Bush would have done in most situations, people would hate him.

Go into Iraq, get rid of Huessein, but then leave yourself with a country full of people who don't want to stand up for themselves... bad decision, Bush is fucked.

Don't go into Iraq, let Saddam sell dangerous weapons to Jihadists who in turn launch more strikes against innocent civilians on our home land... bad decision, Bush if fucked.

Well Trey, it is made harder for ANYONE to be president when the other side is willing to SUPPORT the ENEMY in a time of war just because it will make the president look bad.

You know, democrats love to talk about how conservatives hated Bill Clinton (and I for one did) but NONE of us conservatives SUPPORTED the ENEMY while at war!!! I, for example, thought we had no business in Kosovo and could not identify the "good" guys (both sides were practising ethnic cleansing). And yet I would NEVER have publicly SUPPORTED our enemy (in that war Milosovich). I would never have flown to Belgrade to "negotiate" with Milosovich. And I sure as hell would have never got up on the Senate floor and called our soldiers murderers and rapists. Apparently I'll never be a "good" democrat.

If Bush were able to magically snap his fingers eliminate the terrorists and turn Iraq into the garden of eden, the democrats would be complaining that he didn't consult them first.

I, for one, have NEVER seen such crass politics being played with the LIVES of our soldiers by the democrats. You guys can complain that Bush took us to Iraq. But it is the Democratic party that is ACTIVELY trying to secure our DEFEAT.

And no I don't see what this has to do with embryonic research but as Clockwork is so busy backpedalling from his previous statements and fumbling through his thesaurus looking for a new invective to sling my way, I thought I'd comment on it and give him some new fodder to misinterpret.

If I type my messages in italics, and someone quotes me, will the letters appear even more crooked than before?

Okay, guys. This thread is dead. It's gotten so off topic that Dennis Leary couldn't pull an allusion out of his ass even if it meant getting Rush Limbaugh his meds on time. Or something like that.
