Rep Power: 44 ![]() | Another Reason I'm glad I don't live in New York You know just last night I was watching Star Trek Enterprise with my daughter and they had an alien race onboard who were super rude. They spoke in insults and would get offended if you didn't insult them back. I was joking with my daughter and said they ought to call them "New Yawkers in space". And then I see this story: http://www.nypost.com/seven/12172007...ury_840039.htm So truck driver rear-ends two cars killing several occupants and the survivors of the TWO CARS are being sued by the New Jersey Transit Authority for damaging the road??????? from the article: "All three dead adults, along with relatives, were named in the Turnpike Authority's lawsuit seeking money for damage to the road's infrastructure. "This is disgraceful and obscene," said lawyer Jeffrey Lisabeth, who represents Norma Ryan's grieving husband, Allan Ryan, of Voorhees, NJ. The husband is suing the truck driver and others over his wife's death. "Mrs. Ryan must have bled on the roadway surface while she was being crushed by tons of bricks, and they want to charge her husband for the cleanup?" Lisabeth said." |

Rep Power: 44 ![]() | Well at least the Transit Authority's lawyer had the good sense to drop this suit although this mistake did cost the state their right of action against the truck driver. He must have been a transplanted southerner. |

Rep Power: 44 ![]() | The times that I have been in NYC, I haven't encountered anything but really nice people that went out of their way for us. I love visiting there! Last edited by wingz; 12-20-2007 at 10:22 PM. |

Rep Power: 44 ![]() | Well wingz and junkernaut you say tomato I say toMATo.... I've been to NYC once. Spent three days in Manhattan and those were the rudest people I've met in my life. Let me explain. You walk down the street no one will even look you in the eye and just forget about saying hello or waving. They act like YOU'RE the freak if you wave or say hello. And the "food". Forget about it!!!! Horribly bland and "service" is a four letter word. You open your mouth to speak and they say something to their friends like, "Listen up yous guys, this hick said 'yall'" One day for example my wife and I ate at a restaurant on WALL STREET about a block from the New York Stock Exchange. In other words literally spitting distance from BILLIONS of dollars and thousands of "high rollers". You'd think, given their clientelle, that you'd get excellent service. So I ordered a roast beef sandwich. My first apparent mistake was asking for salt (there were no spices at the table). The waiter looked at me like I had just asked to fuck his mother, muttered something about having to go to the kitchen. He returns like ten minutes later with our main course (I wanted the salt for the appetizer which by this time was gone). He gives me a CHICKEN sandwich. I mention that I ordered roast beef. He says I'll have to wait another twenty minutes to get roast beef so I said fuck it and ate the chicken which had no spices, no mayo, no mustard etc. Just bland chicken between two slices of bread. Then you had the street hawkers.... It just seemed that everyone was in a hurry and everyone had an angle and was trying to screw you constantly. Yeah they'd be honest alright. You're trying to help some lady whose bags fell and you'd get comments like ,"get out of the way you dumbass". I mean they probably DID genuinely feel that you were a "dumbass" after all they were so important and had some much to do and some many to screw.... Now, I know some New Yorkers that have moved down here and most of them aren't nearly as rude so I wonder if it isn't the environment. I also joke around about New Yorkers a lot and REALLY would NOT want to live there BUT I got just as mad on Sept 11th as I would have had Nashville been struck. They ARE New Yorkers but they are also AMERICANS!!! |
