Was apartheid a good thing?

After reading this article about S. Africa, I'm sure if they could go back to apartheid they would. The inflation is 27,000%, violent crime is rampant, gov't is seriously corrupt... sounds like a serious hell hole.

That's exactly what Charles Manson thought would happen in the U.S. after the race riots of the 60's. He thought he'd be a valued asset to the black power groups after the blacks took over the country. Maybe we should see if he can fix S. Africa?

As for South Africa, I imagine the white Afrikaners would like to go back to the way it was. But black South Africans are probably ambiguous about it, because their lives were pretty fucked up under apartheid anyway. The freedom to go out and rob people to survive might be an improvement to them from apartheid, where they were just as poor but well-armed government troops were ready to cut them down if they got out of line.

The situation is deplorable, but unlike in the USA, the whites in South Africa were always a small minority who ruled by means of firepower advantage.

Nothing we can do about it, though, but let them kill each other. Our prescence would be far from welcome by anybody involved.

South Africa is just the latest in a LONG LINE of examples of what happens when a country is ruled by COMMUNISM. Nelson Mandela and his "wife" (she of the "throw a tire around their neck and light it on fire" fame) Winnie were unrepentant COMMUNISTS.

Can ANYBODY find even ONE EXAMPLE of a prosperous communist nation?

South Africa SHOULD BE prosperous. They have abundant natural resources etc. In fact they WERE prosperous although UNJUST as well under apartheid.

I don't think they should go back to apartheid but they need to realize that the communists are just as bad if not worse because apartheid kept the blacks poor whereas communism keeps pretty much everyone poor.
