Rep Power: 30 ![]() | Booooos fall on Pres. Bush To Booo or NOT to Boo.....? Anyone who watched opening day of MLB may have seen/heard this. It was the Washington vs Braves game opening day IN WASHINGTON and President Bush was called out to throw out the ceromonial first pitch. As he took the field "BOOOOS" fell down upon him. So I got to thinking.... on one hand A LOT of people hate the pres. and it is EVERY American's right to BOO who we choose. On the other hand....he's our president and if we can't respect the man..... should we not at LEAST respect the position he represents? I personally would not have booed. But that's just me.... what do you think? |

Rep Power: 42 ![]() | Well did he get the ball over the plate? Did he throw like a girl? Was he still talking about that Columbian Free trade agreement? If I disliked the President as much as some of them do (or if Clinton were still President) I would have booed also. |

Rep Power: 10 ![]() ![]() | Well, I just believe that the man deserves America's respect, even if it's only for his position. I think that we should be coming together in these times, instead of starting riot and disorder, booing our own President. I'm not fond of the man, no, but it's one thing to disapprove...it's another to exert disunion.

Rep Power: 42 ![]() | Well Jessa I agree to a certain extent. If it were on the world stage (i.e. the President was abroad or was giving a speech directed abroad e.g after 911 "those who tore down these towers will hear from all of us") then I agree with the old cliche "politics stops at the water's edge". But this was a baseball game in country and one of the glorious traditions we have in this country is the right to criticize our leaders. Perhaps an example will help: In the MIDDLE OF A WAR the majority leader of the Senate calls the President a liar and says we have lost the war. In the middle of an election a partisian democrat calls the president (who is running for re-election) a liar saying the President broke his "no new taxes" pledge. The first is damn near TREASONOUS (it aids our enemies and endangers our troops) and that speaker should be run out of town. The second is fine. It is political expression and endangers the life of NO ONE!!!! |

Rep Power: 10 ![]() ![]() | I see your point. The main thing that struck me was the possibility of weakening our appearance as a power...but you're right. It's just a damn baseball game.
