You know it would be nice if just once some parents would get together and PURGE their school system of such idiots. This principal should be FIRED immediately.There should be NO APOLOGY good enough for him to keep his job. At some point we HAVE to make an example out of such idiocy or else it will continue and get worse.

Hell he would have probably called the local SWAT team on my seven year-old ass because at that age I liked to draw battleships.

That is the dumbest reason for suspention I have ever heard. And the gun looked more like a building to me.

But you know, you could get away with all sorts of stuff when we were kids.

Supposedly the D'Ville school students aren't allowed to wear all black. You can get sent home for that?!

And you know Razz, we drew guns and battleships and played with GI Joes. We played dodgeball in PE and actually kept score when we played sports (creating "winners" and "LOSERS"). Many of us went home, played army or cowboys and Indians with cap guns (that egad kinda looked realistic) and shot real guns or hunted. Our school didn't give a rat's ass about our "self esteem" and would actually paddle our asses if we misbehaved. Our parents would then paddle our asses again when they found out as opposed to suing the school. "Drugs" were something hippies at Woodstock (not elementary kids with "ADD") took.

And yet somehow we weren't shooting up the school.

I remember a boy in my class got his butt whopped by the principal when I was in 6th grade. He seemed to have straightened up after that...strange, eh?

I remember school with no metal detecters, and yes, I remember sports when they actually kept score. And furthermore, if you sucked, you didn't play! Of course...I rocked, I always played! heh

The fearful backlash from the Columbine massacre included (but were not limited to) prohibition against: all black clothing, hair dyed unnatural colors, trenchcoats, clothing advertizing music/bands, clothing with anti-establishment slogans, male ear-piercings, etc. And let's not forget occult symbols. Of course, that one got into some trouble when some neopagan hippy mom pointed out that crosses are technically occult symbols. So yes, they do all these things.

Additionally, even before all this happened (and I have told you this, but not all the goode people of ye boarde), my high school's faculty called a conference with my own mommy over my facial expressions alone after I got a wad of gum tossed into my hair (in the midst of an advanced-placement English class, no less).

My son would have been permanatly kicked out by now. He draws that kind of stuff all the time. Usually has to do with hunting and stuff, but it's still a gun. I know that he doesn't mean anything by it though. This is stupid and i would raise hell!!

It's times like this that I am glad we chose to homeschool. I never wanted my kids to be those 'weird homeschooled kids' but their OUR kids and I just know they'd be the ones pushing limits and challenging authority. Hell, it's what we're teaching them to do (to a point... I don't want anyone thinking we're raising crazies or anything).

Schools have just gotten ridiculous! They're trying to control everything from what they wear to what they say... there's a difference between a threat and a drawing!
