Free speech liberal style: Blast Bush ok but don't blast others

I've been saying it so much that I sound like a broken record but once again LIBERALS ARE NOT FOR FREE SPEECH UNLESS THEY AGREE WITH IT!!! If a liberal disagrees then the speech moves from protected expression to HATE speech.
I can not overstate the HATRED liberals have of free speech!!!

And the article above is just the latest in literally HUNDREDS of examples. This school has several professors who have cartoons on their doors. Most of the professors have cartoons bashing Bush. No problem there.

But then egad a CONSERVATIVE (much rarer in academia than an albino alligator) has the nerve to put up a few cartoons of his own. I personally love the muslim one as well as the "few thoughts about Iraq" one. Suddenly someone (anonymous of course because he/she is too much a pussy to actually stand up and be counted) gets "offended". And now the professor has been ordered to take the cartoons down or be fired.

He has sued to enforce his first amendment rights. I'm not a lawyer and don't play one on TV although I AM currently studying the First Amendment in a Constitutional Law class. I generally speaking DON'T give legal advice.

BUT this has to be the most open and shut 1st amendment case I have EVER heard of. If this case were to even make it past summary judgment for the plaintiff (professor) then someone ought to think of impeaching the judge for INCOMPETENCE!!!!!!!

And why is it that when I start these threads (Free speech liberal style etc) and in EVERY SINGLE ONE point out that liberals HATE free speech, NO ONE comes to the defense of the liberals.

I mean I have made the accusation that liberals HATE free speech at least TEN TIMES in the last year alone and haven't had to argue the point ONCE!!!!

I KNOW we have some people of the liberal persuasion on this board. Are you guys just admitting that you hate free speech?

Or is it that you may be "liberal" on some issues but you aren't really a died-in-the-wool liberal like the jokers at the university in the first post of this thread?

I'm leaning toward the second which again points out the need for another party in this country because the Democrats are beholding to the liberals who DO hate free speech and the Repubs are beholden to big business so you have a massive MIDDLE who may disagree on some issues but agree more than they know and agree certainly more than they do with the Dems or Repubs.

Nobody wants to try and defend an indefensible position. It'll be interesting to see what this school does when the judge's ruling comes through - assuming the judge isn't some asshat liberal activist judge. Any rational judge would have to rule for the conservative professor.

The question is whether he will be allowed to post his cartoons or whether everyone will have to take theirs down and his colleagues will blame him in the faculty lounge.

American colleges are not bastions of free speech or thought; they are seminaries of PC dogmatic indoctrination.

Well, muslims are a minority in this country, so they are a protected species along with a few others, you're not allowed to criticize them.

The professor should win this battle though.

Well Pitboss I suspect you were jesting, but they made this guy take down ALL of his cartoons only one of which referred to muslims.

For example they made him take down his cartoon entitled, "A Conservative Point of View" about Iraq. Now we are told than half or more of this country is AGAINST the war in Iraq so THEY definitely would not qualify as a minority.

Wilthrill's favorite quote from the cartoon. "It took less time for the US Marines to take Iraq then it did for Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian Compound".
