I can't find the article now, but I had saw one that said the black community actually had a party celebrating this! The thugs, i'm sure. Will, it does sound like this crime was so heinous because of the race issue to me. Ignoring it just invites more of the same. I have no stats on that area, but maybe they do have a black on white crime problem, not just human on human.

I agree that the obvious drive-by media DOUBLE STANDARD needs to be pointed out but if I were the ones protesting in Knoxville I'd be screaming for justice not associating with guys who celebrate Hitler's b'day. A broken clock is right twice a day but those guys utterly destroy your credibility and I'd be doing it to CONVINCE people. Kind of hard to do when your idiot "partner" is goose stepping, sieg heiling and reciting Mein Kampf.

I think I'm going to call the Tennesssean tommorow and see what their excuse is for not covering this story because OBVIOUSLY if the races were reversed they would be!!!!

The pro-white groups are basically all they have to turn to. Can't think of anyone else that would approach this situation. I found their rally info, they're asking for everyone to wear white shirts & jeans, no Nazi stuff, etc.
I hope they get a good turnout for the rally & the media coverage.

Well everyone I did call the Tennessean.

Now you guys know I have a lot of contempt and scorn for the drive-by media (and the Tennessean definitely is). So I said to myself, "let's be fair and not go on the attack right off the bat." But alas it was for naught. When I asked why the story wasn't being covered the city editor, Ricky Young ryoung@tennesean.com, told me it was a Knoxville story. I told him that we both knew that if the racial roles were reverse it would have been covered. He said he didn't know that and neither did I. To which I replied, "I damn well do know it. You won't cover a murder/torture that occured two hundred miles away in Knoxville but you spend weeks covering a garden variety rape that allegedly occurred 500 miles away in Durham, North Carolina." He said he had not heard of the Knoxville story. I told him that he might want to do a little investigating BEFORE the stormfront.org folks are marching in the streets. He said he would look into it. I came home and e-mailed him the following:

When asked why, you said it was a Knoxville story and you guys didn't cover Knoxville stories. You may deny it but we BOTH know damn well (you're probably too afraid to admit it publicly) that had the racial roles been reverse YOUR PAPER would have been covering this 24-7!!!

As it is, you will probably continue to ignore it until some people get mad enbough to take to the streets to demand that YOU do your job and then you will cover it by pointing out how racist THEY are for having the unmitigated nerve to demand equal justice for all.

I've read before that the media is owned by a handful of companies. Such as your Tennesseean is owned by the Garrett Co. Which owns 86 daily newspapers, including USA TODAY, and nearly 1,000 non-daily publications, 23 TV stations, and more in the UK. So in my opinion, these elite few can pick and choose what stories get attention, and they've decided they don't want the public aware of this story.
