And what do you think would be the reaction of Hollywood etc if a rock band was FOR America as much as Rage Against the Machine is AGAINST it? THAT band would be called a bunch of racist, jingoistic, nationalist, flag-waving idiots.

Because in Hollywood if you write "American Idiot" somehow you are being brave (apparently by AGREEING with over 90% of your peers) whereas if you write ANYTHING that could be remotely construed as FAVORING America you are a conservative nut. Avenged Sevenfold is a good example. I don't particularly care for them and have only heard three or four of their songs, none of which sounded conservative to me, and yet when I read about them in the Guitar mags they are noted as "conservative". The same magazine then does a four page spread extolling the "bravery" it took for Green Day to write American Idiot.

Avenged Sevenfold are kind of conservative in that their earlier stuff was almost 'Christian Rock'. A song on their new album called "Critical Acclaim" is very supportive of our soldiers.

Well no wonder Hollywood doesn't like them.

Now if they were radical muslims writing songs about what idiots our soldiers are then Hollywood no doubt would be talking about how "brave" they are.

Yeah, but Avenged has like every top notch stripper hanging off their belt loops. Don't know if I can say the same for Rage or Green Day... I'm sure they have their groupies... but yeah, I've seen the caliber chick that Avenged is raking in, being pro-America has worked out well for them.

While Avenged stands up for the troops and do have a conservative outlook, they also proclaim that they stand for everything "American" like Harley-Davidson, Budweiser, you know, all that kind of stuff. Now if they would stop ripping off Guns -n- Roses and go back to playing flat out tear your asshole up rock then everything would be fine.

That's my kind of band! I was a huge Crue/Gn'R fan as a kid. And if Guns can't get off their asses and work things out, Ax7 is the next best thing (with a better drummer).
They mostly remind me of the early 90's Orange County punk scene band Bad Religion, though.

Sounds like a robin hood story gone wrong. But I knew nothing about this guy until I read this thread. I feel educated now.
