Nancy Pelosi ethics and the min wage

Help me out on this one democrats. I thought you guys were "for the little guy". Ms Pelosi herself said this was WHY she was pushing a minimum wage increase.

I've also heard Ms Pelosi, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, decry Republicans as the "party of the rich" and as being "in the pocket of big business".

So you can imagine my confusion when I see her doing the bidding of Starkist Tuna (not exactly a mom and pop operation) and SCREWING the little guys in American Samoa. The somoans ARE american citizens.

So:
Why is it ok for Ms Pelosi to be a corporate handjob and screw the samoans?

And where are you "champions of the little guy" on this issue?

Oh, and ps,you just gotta love Barney Frank going apeshit when a repub offered an amendment exempting american Samoa from the stem-cell research bill. I guess it's only ok for DEMOCRATS to treat the samoans like shit.

People forget that the "little guy" is also the small business owner, who also lives pay check to paycheck (in many cases).
Raising the min. wage is going to put MANY of them out of business.
Survival of the fittest? Maybe.

Well you know Matchew, the funny thing is that the Republicans in the Senate share your view that this will hurt small businesses and so they added an amendment that would give tax breaks to small businesses to offset the increased labor cost of the min wage hike.

Ted Kennedy (another champion of the little guy) is enraged and as a result the min wage hike is being held up until they can get rid of the tax breaks. I guess Ted feels that the only people who deserve a tax break are drunk drivers who kill their passengers and swim away.

Apparently a gulf stream 3 wasn't big enough for Pelosi to fly back to her home district. Yes, a gulfstream 3 will fly from D.C. to San Fransicko non stop. All that crap about refueling is just that. But Pelosi is so arrogant that she wanted a boeing 757 the size the vice president flies around in. Not one bit of respect for this woman.

Correct Krafty Ken. If I'm not mistaken Hastert's (the former speaker) plane had a range of something like 6000 miles. Last time I checked my geography San Francisco was roughly half that distance from DC.

Pelosi is also one of those HYPOCRITES (and yes she and Gore deserve capital letters) who tells us we are killing mother earth by driving our SUV's when she will consume more fossil fuels in ONE TRIP HOME than I will in driving my SUV for the next year. Goreophiles and Pelosi defenders say, "yeah but they donate to good causes to offset their carbon footprint, so it's ok" The exact term for this is "carbon offsets".

So applying THEIR own rationale, if Adolph Hitler would have just donated some money to the Jewish Defense League then he wouldn't have been an anti-semite. Yeah, it is ludicrous and yet some people still listen to these HYPOCRITES!!

I'm still waiting to see how Pelosi does. I don't think she needs a bigger plane than her predicessor and I don't agree with her rationale for asking for it. If she really wants to help Clinton in '08, she'd better play her cards right, and not turn into some political "Diva". (Maybe too late for that, lol!)

well, lets try to remember something here....whether youre a repub or a dem, youre a politician. you probabally had money in the first place, therefore u were already guilty of cutting a few corners here and there. youre probabally guilty telling some lies, or telling people what they want to hear, despite what youre plans really are. so whether youre dem or repub, youre the same thing with a different name

Well I don't know Junkernaut but SOME of those people who have money may have actually EARNED it as opposed to "cutting corners", but I'd agree that the label Democrat or Republican is meaningless.

It'd be nice if the so called "objective" media would at least on occasion PRETEND to be objective and subject Pelosi to even half of the scrutiny they subjected Newt Gingrinch to.

And be honest Junkernaut, you know damn well that if Gingrich demanded Air Force Three and had his flunkies threatening DOD funding over this, the drive-by media would be covering it twenty-four seven. Hell, he complained about using the rear entrance of Air Force One and Newsweek had a caricature of him on the cover with the caption "crybaby"!!!
