New Process converts plants to Oil

http://worldnetdaily.com/index.php?f...w&pageId=59402

Fairly interesting. This guy wondered how cows convert food (plants) to methane. He said he got the idea standing downwind from a group of cows. He claims, and apparently has a patent on the process, that he can convert any plant material into oil. The article estimates that as much as two thirds of our current oil usage could be replaced by this.

What do you guys think?

Oh, and ps, why do I have to search and finally find this article on worldnetdaily.com? Might a story that could actually provide us with energy independence as well as a RENEWABLE source of energy be slightly more important than what Britney Spears is up to? Apparently not to the drive-by media.

its possible, you will always need something for lubrication in a internal combustion engine.
unless the components were hi temperature teflon.

i think alot of this situation depends on how much oil can be made form the plants.

i read somewhere that if we went to ethonol it would take a corn field 1/3 the size the U.S.
i ASSuME this would be the same sort of thing?

The biggest thing is the sourcing of by-products and additives by the chemical companies to the oil companies much like "bio-fuel" and ethanol are added to gas and sold as salvation. Back-in-the-day we used coke to cut our pcp because it was a third of the price but we told the customers it was higher grade angel dust because the entry buzz deadened the nose. We charged extra for the cheaper product.

Well it is NOT the same as ethanol. Ethanol requires certain parts of certain plants i.e. corn or sugar cane.

This guy claims he can do it with ANY plant material. The husks, the stalks, wood pulp, leftovers from dinner, even the clippings from your front yard.

So for ethanol you would have to plant an acre of corn or sugar cane and could "harvest" it when the pants reach maturity (probably two or three times per year).

This guy could plant the same acre in grass and "harvest" every time he cut the grass or every two weeks or so.

Also his process looks a lot simpler than building your own refinery in the back yard. I mean it looks as if you'd just need some storage container, you put in the plant material, ad his "digestive enzymes" and wait. In other words it appears something that the every day person could actually do on his own.

Finally as the article said "The research has received strong support from the U.S. Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Department of Agriculture and committees in both chambers of Congress, and Bell plans further discussions in Washington, D.C., next week."

So it sounds like there might actually be something to what he is saying. Now this WOULD appear to be something that Big Oil wouldn't be fond of so I guess we get to see WHO our "leaders" are actually serving when we see if this ever sees the light of day.

And drive-by's I know you are torn. I mean we know you hate Bush so on one hand SHOULD want to publish this as a way of attacking him and Big Oil. But you are also subservient to the dirt people and since this doesn't involve a conversion to socialism they will oppose it no matter how good it is for the environment. Also this bears all the markings of an ACTUAL news story so I know you are standing there like deer caught in the headlights wondering HOW you can link this to Britney Spears.

Here's an idea. Just run the damn story!!!!

The chemical plant where I work has already developed a product to make carpet fibers (and many other products) out of corn oil.

We are currently in production of this green product duPont calls Cerenol.

Imagine a Mr. Fusion-esque device on your car, like the future DeLorean, but which utilizes this man's flatulent technology. You could load in garbage and bananas and beer (+the can) and have fuel for miles.

It would be cool.
When i was 14 I wrote an essay what the world would be like in the year 2010, and I really believed that we would be flying vehicles using hydrogen fuel cells.
The technology existed then.

In the real world...
Decomposition for the fuel takes more than a few minutes.
Dude you took back to the future too seriously.
It would take alot more than a banana peel, and a can to go for miles.

Back to the future was actually filmed in the year 2050.
It was brought back to "our time" in order to start a revolution.
