Rep Power: 45 ![]() | Well, with Iraq, Saddam WANTED the world to believe he had WMD's. He said he had them and with him not letting U.N. inspectors in the country, we had no way of being sure. I for one am glad that sick, sadistic bastard is dead. Now, consequently, our invasion of Iraq put the brakes on Iran's nuclear weapons program-Iran (specifically Ineedajihad) knew they could be next. Why do you think they're supplying weapons and training to insurgents in Iraq? To keep us tied up there so they can buy time.

Rep Power: 46 ![]() | http://edition.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS...ef=werecommend The article basically echoes Just Lee and Mikael in saying that Iran is still dangerous and still seeking to enrich uranium (allegedly for energy despite the fact they are sitting on a large reserve of oil) AND still attempting to develop ballistic missiles capable of carrying a nuke. But what I find interesting is when the article talks about how we used to keep NIE "estimates' CLASSIFIED because declassifying them means we give up sources and makes it harder in the future to gather intelligence. From the article: "At this point, some readers will no doubt say there is no way a conclusion like this could have been kept secret. Agreed, but it is worth asking why. The answer is complicated. In all likelihood the estimate was declassified based on a conviction that in today's toxic political climate it would have been seen as a useful weapon by people with a variety of motives -- it would therefore have gone "out the door" in record time. In such circumstances, a case can be made for getting ahead of the curve by declassifying an estimate and thus having some control over how it is presented and perceived." Sooo..... we released it because we KNEW some democrat would LEAK it to the New York Times and THEY would publish it!!!! Think about that for a second. Twenty years ago this would NOT have happened. Even though the media hated Reagan with a passion, they were still American enough that this would not have been published. Not so today!!!!! Oh, and ps, is anybody besides me wondering just what it was the Israelis blew up in Syria a few months ago? Supposedly it was something that involved IRAN and Syria..... |

Rep Power: 41 ![]() | Haven't heard anything about this Israel/Syria thing. It just seems to me that D.C. is really pushing to go into Iran, and even though this info was released they'll find a different reason to support this. Yes they have terrorists, so do we - remember timothy Mc Veigh? We don't need another war, and I still do not see a threat to our country from Iran. |

Rep Power: 45 ![]() | If Iran continues to shake its stick at Israel-they would seriously regret it, to put it lightly. Regardless of where you stand on the Israeli/Palestinian issue, you have to recognize that little county's might. They obliterated the military's of Egypt, Jordan, and Syria in almost no time ('67 I think). They also bombed Iraq's nuclear facility back in the '80's stopping their progress cold. My point is: We may not have to deal with Iran at all. Israel would be more than ready to do it if they were threatened. But, another war in the region at this point would sap our oil-dependant economy to the point of putting us in a severe depression-and no one wants that.

Rep Power: 46 ![]() | Regarding "our terrorist" Mcveigh: 1. We didn't EXPORT him. 2. We PUNISHED him. And Pitboss about two months ago Israelis jets flew into Syria and obliterated SOMETHING that the Syrians and Iranians were working on. We haven't heard anything in the press as to WHAT they blew up and, surprise surprise, the Syrians and Iranians haven't said anything either. |
