Al Gore and Rush Limbaugh were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize this week. What do you guys think?

Well let's see...one guy sits on his ass while he talks. The other stands on a stage to promote a better world.

Oh please Mikael, you can't be serious!!!

Well since even including a quote by Triumph the Insult Comic Dog in the title apprently didn't attract any interest I'll go ahead and tell you what I'm thinking.

NIETHER Al Gore OR Rush Limbaugh should be even mentioned in the same breath as a Nobel Peace Prize!!!

As you pointed out Limbaugh sits on his ass and talks all day. I agree with Limbaugh on a number of issues (more than say Dan Rather or Al Franken for example) but TALKING does not qualify one for the Nobel.

And putting out a piece of propaganda that would humble Josef Goebbels doesn't either!!! Al Gore has done NOTHING to deserve a Nobel. Mikael you speak of Gore "standing on a stage to promote a better world". The only problem with that is he "promotes" a better world by demonizing fossil fuels when, in fact, HE burned more fossil fuels to get to that stage than I will in my WHOLE LIFE! If fossil fuels are so evil then why does Mr Gore insist on flying pretty much EVERYWHERE on PRIVATE jets which burn far more fossil fuels than even the sinful Hummer? (BTW, Gore's people say, "yeah, but he offsets this by donating money to enviro causes." SURE and I guess if Hitler would have just donated money to the Jewish Defense League we could say he was not anti-semitic!!! Give me a break!). Gore is a hypocrite.

It was bad enough that they gave a Nobel to that apologist for dictators worldwide, aka Jimmy Carter, but at least Carter could point to Camp David and Habitat for Humanity to justify his inclusion. Neither Limbaugh or Gore have any such credentials!!!

Well, dude, until someone invents a teleporter the airplane is the most time-efficient mode of travel. And I haven't checked out Gore's day planner but I'm assuming that he's a pretty busy fellow, neccessitating the use of air travel. That doesn't make him a hypocrite, that's just the way shit is. Do I think he should win the Nobel? I don't know that the movie he was apart of warrants all that, but it's pretty compelling stuff and at least deserves notice. Limbaugh, on the other hand, isa hypocrite. What exactly has he done to get a sniff of the Nobel? If there was a "Big Fat Mouth" prize he'd win every year.

Well Putz a busy man like Gore MAY have to fly due to time constraints.

BUT he doesn't have to fly PRIVATE jets ( a particuliarly egregious enviromental sin because at least the jet fuel used on commercial flights is spread out over several hundred passengers as opposed to one person and his flunkies)

and

He also doesn't have to own four houses ONE OF WHICH uses more in fossil fuels than my house will in ten years (size does matter)

and

His wife doesn't have to roll around in a muscle car

and

he doesn't have to be HEAVILY INVESTED in Big Oil (the very companies he demonizes)!!!

You know if Gore were just some regular citizen, NONE of the previous would matter. He's got money so I wouldn't care how he flew, how many large homes he chooses to purchase, what kind of car his wife drives or where he invests his money.
BUT when this santimonius idiot chooses to demonize the rest of us for doing LESS OF THE ALLEGED BAD BEHAVIOR THAN HE DOES, it sort of DESTROYS his argument and DOES make him a HYPOCRITE!!!

so given the choice between the 2, even though his conclusions are totally wrong, id go for gore on this one. i wouldve never nominated either man, but at least gore is putting effort into something worthwhile. while limbaugh likes to sit on his ass all day choking down prescription drugs....but then again we have a president who's an alcoholic and former coke head.....seems par for the course nowadays

Junkernaut, "I would have never nominated either man, but at least Gore is putting effort into something worthwhile..."

Ah, junkernaut, I knew we'd meet again...

Well, at least you seem to understand the main thrust of this thread, specifically, that NEITHER Gore or Limbuagh is deserving of a Nobel, but let me ask you this. You say Gore is putting effort into something worthwhile and yet I would say that TALKING about a problem while AVOIDING the solution isn't putting anything into an argument whether that argument is worthwhile or not.

Specifically, Gore tells the rest of us we have to conserve fossil fuels and then uses fossile fuels at a rate NONE of us do. Another example:

http://tennesseepolicy.org/main/arti...article_id=367

That's right. Al Gore uses more electricity in ONE of his four homes in one MONTH than does the average american in one YEAR!!! Read the article. Those are power consumption figures from Al's ONE home in Belle Meade!!! And THIS GUY is telling me that I can't drive my SUV????

You know if you people REALLY believe in global warming, you ought to choose a speaker for your cause that actually has a shred of CREDIBILITY!!!

And just one more example of Gore's hypocrisy:

http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2...622.shtml?s=ic

That's right. Al Gore (superenviromentalist) has a toxic waste dump on his property in Carthage, Tn. I remember back in 2000 when this story broke and was actually reported in the local (Nashville) media. I went to the Tennessean and Channel 5's website (they both reported on it in 2000) but the story isn't on the free section of their sites so I went to Newsmax.

But once again, "do as I say NOT as I do" doesn't make for a very inspiring leader.
