Rep Power: 46 ![]() | Our "Leaders" can't even Criticize Steroid Usage! So Barry (the juice man)Bonds allegedly broke Hank Aaron's home run record. It is common knowledge that Bonds was using anabolic steroids (you don't gain forty pounds of muscle mass in ONE off season without juicing). The commissioner of baseball wimped out. It'd be nice if he were a REAL MAN but he's got a dog in that fight so one can kind of understand WHY. But then we look to "our LEADERS" (who don't have a dog in the fight) hoping that one of them will be a REAL Man and what do we get? How about Nancy Pelosi? Surely she diagrees with a role model for children CHEATING and using steroids? WRONG!!! http://www.examiner.com/blogs/Yeas_a...orts-Immortals How about George Bush? Surely as a former owner of a major league team he would see the damage this will bring on the sport? WRONG AGAIN!!! http://www.reuters.com/article/domes...rpc=22&sp=true SO WHY CAN'T OUR LEADERS CONDEMN STEROID USE AND CHEATING???? If I had my way when Bonds stepped up to bat he would have been pelted with so many used syringes he would have had to retreat to the dugout. There is only ONE home run king. His name is Hank Aaron and he broke the record the old-fashioned way. He worked his ass off as opposed to shooting drugs into it!!!! |

Rep Power: 45 ![]() | Finally something we can disagree on! You can gain that much weight in a relatively short time. I've put on almost 20 lbs. in a simimliar time frame at one point. Don't forget the Bush was a one time owner of a major league team, as well. And it is not a well-known fact. It only rumored, not proven that Bonds was on steriods.

Rep Power: 46 ![]() | You can gain that much weight but you'd have a hell of a time gaining forty pounds of MUSCLE MASS in six months. I criticized Bush specifically noting his former ownership of a major league (although some would disagree with that characterization of the Texas Rangers) baseball team. He hasn't been convicted in a court of law YET but then again Bonds has stonewalled since DAY ONE! If I were on the jury I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. If it were putting him in jail I'd say give him the benefit of the doubt. But I'm not doing either so I can express my opinion and that is that Bonds is an OBVIOUS steroid abuser. |

Rep Power: 35 ![]() | How in the hell did you tie Nancy Pelosi in to Barry Bonds?!?! Will, that is fuckin' genius, brother. I hear what you're saying. But, how many pitchers were juiced that threw to him? Substantially more pitchers have been busted for 'roids than position players. Barry is still an incredible hitter, regardless. He's just an asshole. McGwire was busted with shit in his locker on TV, but Mac's a good guy. It wasn't steroids, but it was a supplement that was already banned by the NFL and the Olympic anti-doping committee. Most of it is just hypocrisy. |

Rep Power: 46 ![]() | Well Pelosi tied herself to Bonds but I'll take whatever compliments I can get. McGwire, as you said, was "busted" with a substance that wasn't illegal at the time. Perhaps it should have been but it wasn't so he has wiggle room. Bonds does not. My position is that if we ALLOW obvious steroid usage (and Mikael is about the ONLY person I've heard who doesn't believe Bonds to have been using) then let's go all the way and say it's perfectly LEGAL. THIS IS THE SINGLE MOST WIDELY KNOWN RECORD IN ALL OF BASEBALL!!! I can't help but compare Bonds to Hank Aaron. Aaron had a quiet grace under pressure. Many people (mainly white)resented the fact that Aaron, a black man, was gunning for a record set by Babe Ruth. Aaron worked hard, kept his head down and broke the record. Aaron did not CHEAT!!! When Aaron hit his record breaking homer there were NO QUESTION MARKS!!! It was a triumph of hard work over adversity and even those who were rooting for Babe Ruth to keep the record HAD TO RESPECT Aaron. That isn't the case with Bonds. Yeah, he is a good hitter but if he hadn't JUICED UP and gained forty pounds of muscle mass he wouldn't be ANYWHERE NEAR this record. And for the record, Bonds isn't the only one. St Lance Armstrong, for example, appears to have been DOPER! His team mates and their wives are coming out of the woodwork with allegations. In his case it isn't blatantly apparent (he didn't gain forty pounds of muscle mass in six months) but if it is true he should be STRIPPED of ALL those Tour de France victories when he was doping.
