But consider the possibility that once it became common knowledge that the pain one feels when attempting to cross the border is only a trick induced by a device with a maximum range, the would-be border jumpers will just keep on running until they escape the range of the weapon. Then the only difference would be that said border jumpers would have to suffer a little imaginary pain to enjoy the freedoms we take for granted. Personally, I'm a little tired of all these "border solutions" I keep hearing from people. I know it's not practical considering finances and the budget and whatnot, but why can't we just share our freedom with others? Or better yet, why not just conquer mexico and force our freedom on them? I don't spend my time trying to figure out how to keep poor people from enjoying the benefits I am granted by birthright. When I do think about it, I think of ways we could make it possible for anyone to enjoy this melting pot of a country. Yeah, it is unrealistic. But the more time we spend thinking about that instead of pain guns to hurt people who just want to be free, the more likely we are to find a viable solution.

Rep Power: 46 ![]() | um if the ray guns have a 50 foot range then build a wall of ray guns along the entire length of the border every 40 feet...it's really pretty simple so IF you want a 'secure border' that is the easiest way to do it...of course there is the other option... www.annexmexico.com

Rep Power: 40 ![]() | Clockwork, have u lost your mind? I mean if we just open the borders for all the poor people in the world, Instead of absorbing them, they absorb us. We'll become a 3rd world country. If we're not on that path already that is. |

As for letting everybody in, well the quality of life would decline steadily if you did that. I lived in California from late 1983 to late 2002. In 1983 there were 23 million people in the state; in 2002 there were 35 million, and almost 20 million just in the area from L.A. to San Diego, a distance a little less than here to Jackson. The population of Mississippi is 2.5 million. Now imagine nearly 10 times that many packed into the space between here and Jackson, and think about the quality of life. There are 100 million people in Mexico. We can't let them all come here, and it's a security issue in these times. A pain gun is better than M-16s to the recipients. | |

Rep Power: 46 ![]() | Yes, of course. I almost forgot about the voices of comfortable people talking from a comfortable chair about what's best for these refugees trying to obtain some decent money so their families can eat. Of course I'm not stupid. I know very well that there would be chaos if we just opened our borders. But I also know the difference between one border control method vs another. I happen to feel a little bit of compassion and responsibility for the less fortunate people of the world. I'm sorry if my ideals put frightening images in your heads about losing those comfortable chairs to swarming mexicans. And what good is the quality of life if it's only granted to certain members of the human population? And besides. I don't think physical space is really an issue. ESPECIALLY when we're talking about mexican immigrants. These guys come by the dozens in trunks of cars. C'mon! We won't even know they're here, lol! When I am not playing music or irritating people with nonrealistic goals, I'm working. I do construction work, and therefore I meet a lot of illegal immigrants from mexico. Sometimes I get the feeling that people like lerxtcat, who talk about comfort and space in relation to human lives, view these mexican people as some sort of cockroaches swarming into your country taking what is yours. But they are not cockroaches. They are your human brothers and sisters. The very idea that their future livelihood is challenged by some because they just don't want them "in your space" is sort of revolting. Well, realize that this is the Earth. It's everyone's space. It was we humans, in our lack of understanding of this fact, that created borders. And it is us, in our lack of compassion and our hatred for others, that place the borders before the well being of our fellow man.
