That's right. A 19 year-old woman gets GANG RAPED by SIX men in Saudi Arabia and SHE gets sentenced to 200 LASHES and 6 months in jail.

She was originally sentenced to 90 lashes but had the unmitigated NERVE to actually speak about her unfair punishment to the media so now its 200!!!

Now to those who would maintain that there goes wilthrill hating on muslims again, "hey wilthrill, it was the act of an extremist. This doesn't represent mainstream Islam", WELL YOU ARE DEAD WRONG!!!!

This is NOT just some extremist. This is the LAW of a sovereign nation which is based on ISLAMIC LAW!!!!

Oh, and ps, WHERE ARE THE FEMINISTS ON THIS????? Again, you have a "religion"/nation that shows incredible SEXISM (they don't just tell sexist jokes they actually DO IT!) and yet our so-called feminists are DEAD SILENT!
Why just last night Hillary herself told us how her campaign is inspiring women of all ages. Well how "inspiring" is it for them to see BLATANT MISOGYNY condoned by Hillary????

I wouldn't even try to defend this. I also have no idea why Bush and Condoleeza aren't pressing our "ally" on this issue. I guess that'll teach her to walk with a non-related male...sad.

Because somebody somewhere would say that they weren't respecting Islamic culture and trying to impose Western values on another culture.

This is reprehensible, but so is female circumcision which is widely practiced in other cultures. There are a lot of such things in many different countries and cultures around the world.

Either we take them all on, ignore them all, or we pick the battles where their way directly affects our way and fight those battles. It's sickening but much of the world has sickening customs. We should focus on not letting their sickening customs infect our own country as they're starting to do - like no religious articles worn in school UNLESS you're Muslim, then you get to cover your face because of your religion.

Well another example is the British school teacher in the Sudan. Her class had a teddy bear. In an effort to teach democracy she let the students vote on the name of the teddy bear. THEY selected Mohammed.
She was originally sentenced to 40 lashes and then that was reduced to 15 days in jail and deportation. Again, the Sudan is a muslim country.

And Lerxt you are 100% correct in saying that if we say no religious items at school we shouldn't be allowing muslims to wear their RELIGIOUS UNIFORM!!!!

Ridiculous! I guess I have a different understanding of Islam than 99% of its adherents. I've read an English version of the Qu'ran and really didn't see much of a difference between it and the Old Testament. There is even a passage that states "There shall be no compulsion in religion". Guess the Imams missed that one, lol!

Well Mikael the PROBLEM is that it is not that different from the Old Testament.

You know the same Old Testament that commands its followers to STONE TO DEATH adulterers, homosexuals, and those that don't worship its god.

Excellent point. Keep in mind that in both this case and the "Teddy Bear" case, these were STATE imposed sentences. A nice example of why it's good to keep the Church and the State separate entities.

Well you know a major part of preventing such "silliness" from coming over here is having the guts to call it silly. Unfortunately our leaders have fallen prey to the politically correct notion that we must TOLERATE such behavior (i.e. that madrassa in NYC supported by tax dollars that we were talking about a few months ago on this board).

And again where are the feminists on this issue?

Bush appoints someone to the Supreme Court who might overturn Roe v Wade, the feminists are all over it.
