Rep Power: 44 | | | A Republican I might vote for in 08 http://ronpaul2008.com/
What scares me is that he's Republican, and from Texas
but I like his stance on a lot of the issues. Of course theres a lot of time to go, and I bet he gets little or no exposure in the media. |

Rep Power: 49 | | | The drive-by's won't touch Ron Paul with a ten-foot pole. I mean Pitboss (in whispered tones) ,"he believes that the constitution MEANS what it SAYS, that radical!!!"
It's kind of funny in a way... The drive-bys will crawl across broken glass to prostrate themselves at the foot of dictators (Mike Wallace and Diane Sawyer are you listening). Sawyer, for example, will kiss the ass of a man (Mymood Innedajihad of Iran) who would STONE TO DEATH a woman who acted and dressed as Ms Sawyer does. He, and his culture, thinks of women as CATTLE (for example under Sharia law a woman is not even allowed to CHARGE a man with rape unless some other man was a witness) and yet Diane will play nice and kiss his ass.
The SAME Diane Sawyer wouldn't spit on Ron Paul if he were on fire. She would not give him the time of day and if forced to would be rude and condescending.
I kind of like Fred Thompson and he has enough recognition (Law and Order, HUGE popularity in Tenneessee) to actually get over the hump and MAKE the drive by's pay attention. I don't know if he'd run although I suspect he'd be a fool not to because pretty much all of the repubs I talk to (myself included) are DISGUSTED by the choices of Guliani, McCant, or Romney. We would not vote for them. We may mark their name as a vote against Hillary but that would be the only reason. |

Rep Power: 49 | | | Matchew, I'm opening myself up to all kinds of criticism but I'll tell you.
Drive-by media is a term Rush Limbaugh coined to describe the mainstream media (ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, New York Times etc). He said the media drives by, fires their bullets into the victim and then moves on. A good example was the Richard Jewel Atlanta bombing at the 96 olympics. The drive-by's pretty much convicted Mr Jewell in the press and were nowhere when he was exonnerated. They often blare a headline and when it is proven false bury the correction on page a-17.
I know you guys hate Limbaugh but his phrase "drive-by" media is accurate and that is why I use it. |

Rep Power: 49 | | | Well yes Matchew the dwindling attention span of Americans has a lot to do with the format (30 second soundbites masquerading as news) but again the term drive-by refers to their utter inability to accept responsibility for their OWN actions and stories.
If a newspaper runs with a mistaken headline they should CORRECT it in a HEADLINE. The CORRECTION should be just as prominent as the mistake the idea being to make sure their info is correct. And yet virtually every large paper BURIES corrections on like page a-17. If a Dan Rather makes a mistake and uses forged documents he should come forward as SOON AS THE DOCS FALSITY IS ESTABLISHED and CORRECT the misinformation. Instead Rather denied that he ever knew the docs were false (he's probably still denying it) and argued that the story was true despite the fact that his case for the story had been blown out of the water.
Oh well that's probably more of an answer than you wanted and I actually don't get paid by the word, so I'll stop for now. |

Rep Power: 49 | | | I'd probably like Romney also if I could ever figure out where he stands. To me he's a republican John Kerry. You could never figure out Kerry's position on Iraq and I defy anyone to figure out Romney's position on abortion. His constant flip flopping on abortion is worse than if he took a wrong position and held it. Hell even Hillary is more credible on abortion than Romney. He's running for president for god's sake and ought to be able to maintain a position for more than two weeks. |
