Rep Power: 42 ![]() | Well based on numbers the chi-coms are the most savage gov't on planet Earth right now..... BUT the Olympics were held in Nazi Germany and the communist Soviet Union, both of which were savage gov'ts, so....... |

Rep Power: 42 ![]() | I don't have the time to look it up, but a few months ago I saw an article saying that the Chi-coms were not going to allow the athletes to bring Bibles etc into the country. (Can't remember if they were excluding just the bible or all holy books). NOW, that to me would seem to be a problem and if Wilthrill ruled I'd say, "it's the Olympics BEOTCH!!! If you can't deal with freedom for the athletes for TWO WEEKS then you have NO BUSINESS hosting the Olympics." So basically countries with horrible human rights records have been allowed to host the games but if they wish to impose their tyranny on the athletes I'd say HELL NO!!! |

Rep Power: 21 ![]() | Well, to me it seems if you're not Christian enough to have your daily prayers memorized so you can do without your Bible for 2 weeks, that's a bigger problem than the Chinese not letting you bring them in. I'd be more concerned about their polluted air ruining the health of our athletes, personally. |

Rep Power: 42 ![]() | Most of the christians I've known don't view their bibles as their "prayer scripts". Most either view them as their "spiritual battery recharger" or something to read/look at along with the church program when that preacher just won't shut up. I'm pretty sure the chicoms banned ALL religious books not just the bible. Even the Nazis were better at PR than that!! But Lerxt you bring up an interesting point. Given that yesterday was Dirt Day (the dirt people call it Earth Day which just happens to coincide with Vladimir Lenin's birthday) where are the dirt people on China, pollution and the Olympics? |

Rep Power: 42 ![]() | http://worldnetdaily.com/index.php?f...w&pageId=61983 Well apparently Wilthrill was wrong and the ChiComs are banning the Bible but not other non-christian religious books. |

As far as the eco-people and china, they probably care more about the pollution than the human rights issues. A lot of eco-people see people as part of the problem and probably love trewes more than people. Don't get me wrong, I love trees too, and they are more pleasant than a lot of people are. But I think it's hard for the Western mind to grasp the Chinese tendency to de-emphasize the individual person as opposed to the group. Even non-Communist Chinese seem to put the family and the community ahead of the individual. You can look at Chinese-Americans' cultural habits to see that. My view on China is just pragmatic, in that I feel we're better off trading with them and talking to them than fighting a world war with them. I think it would make World War II look like Grenada. Well, that's an exaggeration, but not that much. I think a world war against china would tear up the world much more than WWII did, and we might not win. They could lose a BILLION people in casualties and still have as many left as we have right now. How exactly do we deal with that? My view is that if we don't trade with them, they will start a war with us. Is it worth it to us to fight them, and can we win? I'm not sure about the answers to those questions. | |
