Rep Power: 39 ![]() | So I paid $4.25 for diesel It's to the point that my economy car now takes $60 to fill up, groceries are going up. I know it's not quite so much that everything is going up, the dollar keeps falling. All the same, I'm starting to believe some of the doomers predicting the oil crash. Anyone else a little worried? Heres a site with some info on what they say - http://www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net/Index.html video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMQd5nGEkr4

Rep Power: 12 ![]() ![]() | I'm not poor by any means, but I was looking at the wild rabbits in the yard this morning, and ask my bride... you ever eat rabbit? She replied ugh NO ewww. I told her the way things are going I should find somebody who has some domesticated, and already cleaned for consumption so she could acquire the taste for them. Grocery bill is up 25% Gas is up near 50% Income up 3.5% You do the math.

Rep Power: 44 ![]() | Well I, for one, am going to very shortly be in the market for a mid 80's Honda CRX. Back in 1985 that car got 55 miles to the gallon. I know Geo also had a model that got that kind of mileage although Geo's are pretty much disposable so I don't know if there are any still running. Also the Volkswagon Rabbit Diesel got close to that kind of mileage although it is diesel. I will NEVER own a hybrid until they can get better mileage than technology that is over twenty years old!!!!! Anybody else know of any other high gas mileage models????? |

Rep Power: 12 ![]() ![]() | my 1100 gets 60 mpg, as long as I stay out of it... LOL I can't haul band equipment with it. The price for gigging just went up, or I'm trying to get our pay up.

Hybrids are excellent in the city, but from what I read they're not that great on the highway, and when the batteries go it's expensive. Any of you guys into experimenting? I'm thinking of trying a homemade hydrogen generator. I've got some plans I downloaded the other day. Just gotta make a little time and get some materials together.

I just got a credit card from the pentagon federal credit union that gives a 5% return on all gas purchases. I get 2% back on groceries and 1.25% back on all other purchases. I am a federal employee so it was easy to get. From what I have read, if you are not a federal employee you can still get the card. You have to call to apply instead of online and you pay a one time fee of $50 to become a member of the credit union. |

Rep Power: 44 ![]() | Well not to be a conspiracy guy or whatever but can anyone answer the following question. As I said above in my first post in 1985 aka OVER TWENTY YEARS AGO there were at least three models of cars that got over FIFTY miles to the gallon and WERE NOT hybrids etc. The technology is over twenty years old!!!! Given the current gas prices why hasn't even ONE car company come out with a basic car that got over fifty miles per gallon (or at least re-release the cars that did twenty years ago) and price it fairly low???? Sure it wouldn't be a "family" car because it would be too small but a hell of a lot of commuters might be interested in it as a drive-to-work vehicle. They'd sell a lot of cars so why hasn't ANY of them jumped on the opportunity? |
