They did remove him from his seat or chair of his committee, or whatever. Technically, I think he can still serve out his term if he is convicted. I haven't followed this one much because I thought he was already in jail. I didn't realize he got reelected til this week. Anyway, the D.A. and the FBI will carry the load on this one. Pelosi needn't get her hands dirty

BUT don't you think if you RAN on the "republican culture of corruption" it might behoove you to CONDEMN corruption in YOUR PARTY? For democrats, this mysterious concept is called CONSISTENCY.

When Duke Cunningham did FAR LESS the democrats were lined up around the corner waiting to demand he resign etc. When Tom Delay was indicted by an obviously out of control partisian hack prosecutor the Democrats lined up to demand he resign. When Trent Lott made a stupid statement at Strom Thurmond's b'day bash the Democrats were all demanding he resign.

And now we have Cold Cash Jefferson (and I was calling him that the day the story broke BEFORE I heard Limbaugh) who is ON VIDEO accepting a $90,000 bribe and the democrats are DEAD silent????

Oh, and ps Mikael, you are correct in that if Jefferson is convicted he can still serve out his term. Tom Delay had to RESIGN when he was INDICTED because back during that "republican culture of corruption" the corruptors (republicans) passed a rule that said any republican in a leadership position would step down if indicted. The "swamp draining saviors of Washington virtue" haven't passed such a rule for themselves. Isn't that interesting????

Very interesting for sure. What gets me, is that he was charged with this before the election, still got reelected and used Democratic Party money for his campaign (I'm assuming he used party money for his bid, right?).
