i realize that this is african furvor in action here, but this is definitly similar to actions taken by the taliban, and even other christian denominations throughout the world and even in our own history. the worst part is these people are doing this to their own traditions

I didn't even have to read the whole article to see where that was going. Money is power. Belief is REAL power. I recently watched God's Warriors on CNN. They covered Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. A common theme among everyone of them was that they all had radical beliefs. They were/are all crazy!
Now I believe in God. The very same God of the Jews, the Christians, and the Muslims. I believe God is God and there is no other. Now, I'm not sure I believe in the same way as each religion's followers. They are crazy to me, and using that belief to control people.

Well I did read the whole article and it strikes me as odd that in a time when muslims have killed over 1,000,000 people in Darfur ALONE we are complaining about the alleged destruction of art by christians as if THAT somehow is comparable!!!

Perhaps they are all crazy Mikael but ONLY ONE is killing people in the name of their craziness. Even if you take the allegations in the article as true,the christians are encouraging people to destroy THEIR OWN shit. Meanwhile not too far to the north christians and muslims are being HACKED TO DEATH by muslim savages. Somehow it isn't comparable!!!!

well, this is a matter of the 1000 mile journey beginning with the first step. it starts with destroying artifacts and religious icons. thats the first step...then eventually, if unchecked, it will lead to killing....throughout history it has always started slow.....i know how much u hate when i bring up the spanish conquistadors and the monks they brought with them, but thats exactly how it started there. the first thing the monks and friars and priests did was to systematically break down the beliefs of the mayans and aztecs. it started with the desecration of their idols and artifacts and eventually they started killing the indiginous priests and holy men.

it always starts slow.

Well Junkernaut, if you remember I actually liked the Aztec comparison because it is a good illustration of the danger we face today from militant Islam and what will happen to us if we do nothing like the Aztecs did.

And Mikael I'll agree that radicalism of any kind is bad but there is this concept called proportionality and when you try to compare destroying art to hacking human beings to death with machetes I think you miss the point.

well for me its like this....maybe if we had done something about the islamic extremists years ago, we wouldnt be in the situation we are in now. but if left alone, these pentacostals in africa could start another darfur massacre......destroying art and aggrssive acts like that are just the beginning.

Ah...now I get it. You're Jewish, and you've been taught to hate all Muslims since you were little. Let me tell you something, brother. Muslims run the ambulances and all major services in Israel while Jews are at home on their Sabbath-and most Israelis are thankful for that. You have to learn to separate the moderates and the radicals. You simply can't make blanket, reckless statements like you do.
