2008 Ocean Springs Music Festival

The 2008 Ocean Springs Music Festival will be held on July 4th on Front Beach in Ocean Springs. The city of Ocean Springs is a major sponsor this year, providing funds for the stage, sound, security, insurance, food vendor contracts, etc. We just need to book the bands. No word on pay yet, although I am working on getting money for at least a headliner (and hopefully everyone that plays) through a state grant. I won't know if we got the grant until about a month from now.

If anyone was at the bridge opening in November, we will have the same stage and sound as at that event, only in front of the old Fort Maurepas site instead of right next to the bridge.

Anyone have a band that would like to play? If so, send me an email at oceanspringsmusic@yahoo.com with:
A) contact information (including a phone number)
B) photos and music (either attached or as a link to myspace, etc.)
C) a bio, including previous gigs, radio, etc.

Also, even if you are not in a band, or think that you know of a good band to suggest, feel free to respond on here.

We are probably looking at 7-8 bands this year.

It is in conjunction with the city's fireworks display and a volleyball tournament that they will be putting on at the beach, so there should be a good crowd and lots of exposure. Even if we do not pay (which I hope that we will), you are welcome to sell your band's merchandise all day and we will have a tent set up for that.

I went last year and enjoyed the parts I got to see. Could you post some pictures of the stage and production equipment the city is providing? I still remember last years.

I don't have any pictures, but the stage and sound will be a lot better this year than last year. (No offense to Chuck, who did a great job last year, but the system will just be a lot bigger.) Our stage sucked big ones, but you get what you pay for...

This year the sound and stage is going to be done by Sound Associates out of Mobile. That is the same company that has done stuff for the coliseum and we will be using the same stage set-up as what the city used for the bridge opening in November.

They have a website, but it is really weird and probably won't answer your questions too well. http://www.soundassoc.com

Thanks, we certainly need all of the help that we can get promoting, and I would definitely appreciate some flyers once we figure out who all is going to be playing.
