4/28 - CastorTroy Signing Party (Thunder's Tavern)

This Saturday night at Thunder's Tavern in Pascagoula, CastorTroy is holding their signing party.

If you didn't know, last Tuesday they signed a four-year, two-album deal with Rock Ridge Music label of New York.

Lookin' 4 Juice and Vysion will be opening for them on this night.

Well good for them. I hope they are successful. And I don't think he meant work ethic is more important than songs overall. I think he meant that was what initially won him over. Because you can have a hundred great songs but if you're not willing to play them or to work hard to promote them then you'll get nowhere. So in that respect, work ethic is more important.

Ditto for that. I think it is cool when any band or musician from the coast is given a chance to make it into the big leagues. Go Castor Troy, even though I think their music sucks. God speed.

music sucks? eh, maybe. maybe not. maybe you suck. ever think of that?

as another signing of a band comes and goes here on the MGC, we start to see patterns. and we start to ask ourselves questions. Do they suck? does their music suck? Does their equipment suck? do their girlfriends suck? do they have girlfriends? do they have a manger? do they write for the fun of it, like so many bands have done, do they play for the money? and what money? are they gonna last? whats gonna happen to their sound? will it change?
how many bands that get signed, get it right on the first album/tour. give 'em a chance. let them show you the magic of what playing 250 shows a year does to a band. everyone said 3DD sucks, they suck, blah, blah......now you can't say that. whether you like the music or not, they are accomplished at what they do. bottom line. Castor Troy is simply on a different more beginner level of that. for now. they are accomplished as a local act. so naturally its time to move on. go national. maybe move that decimal over 1 spot in the bank account.
I say, let them do what they do. Congrats to them.

Good points.

I don't like thier style music, personally. I wouldn't go as far to say the mother fuckers suck, though.
I think Bert sucks, but...he sucks SO GOOD!

They have the market sound/look/work ethics/pink t-shits...whatever it is.
Good luck to them.
I hope they got a good "deal". The ones I hear about these days aren't worth the effort.

Uh. Chill the fuck out, dude. I don't say anything on a message board that I won't say to somebody's face. I'm allowed to have an opinion about a band and post it freely where I wish. I don't appreciate it the insults, either.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure I don't suck. I've worked quite hard in my life at music which was God's gift to me. I just don't think Castor Troy is very talented. Music isn't for everybody, and perhaps the big man upstairs has other plans for them.

My opinion is valid, homie. I'm not an idiot, and I take pride in my abilities as a musician.

It's possible to suck and still get famous. Fuck, look at William Hung or Sanjaya. Seriously, dude.. what are you thinking?
