Sounds like "they" set the price without consulting you. Any mention on what the split with the band would be yet? These are some of the questions I asked that went unanswered.

the theater is not charging rent. A band would normally have to pay $500- $750 to book the theater. The MOK is making it available at no charge to the band, but they are selling tickets to the event. We felt the $10 was high, are trying to get them to come down, will take it out of our cut. I don't think they ever implied that admission would be free, just that bands could book it without charge. I think...

Our booking/PR guy is discussing the terms with them presently, I'm waiting to hear the latest. I'm hoping the ticket price was just a suggested starting point and we can get them to come down some.

we're also planning to invite artists to set up their work on the premises during the day, we've been wanting to do this 'alternative venue' -type cross media shows for a long time now. If we can figure out how to make it work we'd like to keep doing them.

I interpret that to their value placement is $2.00 per seat with an $8.00 cap. The concession cap is so low because they serve during intermission only. You may be looking 60/40 or 50/50 at best. Just guessing though.

still have room for an artist or two if anyone's interested in displaying their works/services.

There will definitely be bellydancing at this one, and hopefully a few more surprises.
Still planning on filming for DVD. Costumes encouraged but not required (prizes for contest winners- to be judged by participating artists)
