Rep Power: 49 | | | CD packaging preferences? not sure if this is the right subforum to post this in, couldn't really figure out where it belonged:
What's your preference in CD packaging? We're about to have to make a decision, and I'm wondering what folks prefer these days?
Digipacks (cardboard folders, less waste)?
plain old Jewel cases (have to fight the shrinkwrap)?
other ideas?

Rep Power: 36 | | | I think digipacks are cool. If it's not exponentially more expensive, that's the route we're gonna take. |

Rep Power: 49 | | | what did you guys do for packaging, Alex?
I guess insert booklets are a little more tricky with digi's too, you have to either have a slot or have them attached to the 'sleeve.'
I saw one package I really liked, but it's quite expensive, I'm sure.
It's a small, bound book with a CD-tray mounted to the back leaf. It's pretty much the same size as most CD cases.
Of course, you'd need enough art or written material to merit the book part, but I really dig that layout; very cool! |

Rep Power: 49 | | we haven't picked out our new package yet. i know there going to get us again for the enhanced cd portion. i was looking for dual disc cd's but couldn't find it in discmakers catalog. i'm sure the dual disc is even pricier than the enhanced cd. what we're probably going to go with will be a jewel case with a 6 page insert(front and back) along with the enhanced portion for the video and other sundries.
hey mark, check this out you'll probably dig: http://cgi.ebay.com/DW-Drums-Neil-Pe...QQcmdZViewItem

Rep Power: 49 | | | heh, that's pretty cool! I'm anxious to see what Neil's new kit for this tour will look like, apparently it's red w/ black hardware-
I'm still kind of suffering gear-burnout from NAMM... |

I'm still kind of suffering gear-burnout from NAMM... | red with black hardware you say? interesting. i'm thinking about doing the black mirra with the gold hardware myself, just different sizes from that kit. maybe putting in some blood red sparkle pinstripes. i don't know when, but sometime this year. i know the dw black hardware (actually any powder coated hardware) tends to flake off after use. i had a kit in the mid nineties that had the brass hardware same thing. i haven't heard enough about the new gold hardware to make a decision. it's supposed to be more resistant to wear marks. |

Rep Power: 49 | | | since we're on the subject, a Mobile buddy of mine just got a kit off ebay I'm dying to see; it's a Spaun hybrid acrylic/maple- the maple's red- it's a crazy looking kit. He's who sold me my present kit, so there's a good chance I may own a Spaun sometime soon- |

Rep Power: 49 | | | alot of companies are doing hybrid kits at the moment. spaun was the first i think. phattie and other boutique makers are doing the same. i think even gms, which is a great company by the way, are making one as well. |

T.I.A! | Personally, just me, I dont like the cardboard folders. They dont hold up well over time and wear out too quickly.
