Rep Power: 42 ![]() | giving it a go- new indie record label I figure while the new AM album is being mixed I'd set up a label to release it through. Have been wanting to do it for a while anyway. For now, it's just a means of releasing the AM catalog, but if it goes smoothly, I would like to see about putting other artists on it also. we'll see what happens. http://www.myspace.com/xushrecords I'll put a website together if all goes well in the next few months, and I welcome any input from Gulf Coast artists. |

I've always thought that the major benefit would be to have a label record us and absorb the costs of recording (sort of like an interest free loan) and you pay them back by playing shows and selling merch/CD's. Rep Power: 42 ![]() | yeah, all our label offers have been so lopsided that we'd rather avoid it if possible and keep ownership of our masters anyway. We're doing everything else ourselves anyway, may as well try this too. Since we've got a well-stocked studio, it just kind of makes sense. One of the first things I'd like to do is set up an online store where we can offer merch. The more artists we can get involved with that, the more cross-exposure I think it will afford. These days, 'mainstream' labels are having a tough time. I've been wanting to try this for a while now anyway, so we'll see if we can't make something of it. At the very least, I'd like it to be an outlet for more exposure and PR for whatever bands end up participating. Everybody has different ways of contributing to the scene (getting out there and doing something)- I hope this can be part of mine. |
