You can also make it your career without "making it". Look at Isis, Rain, and all of those casino bands. They are making a confortable living, probably $50k/yr & up, without being rock stars.
But then you'd have to get hammered every night to forget you were in a lounge act in a casino...Dammit!!! I do that any way! Back to the drawing board.
There are alot of jobs in the music business besides being a starroducers, studio musicians,hired performers,music directors,teachers,arrangers,songwriters,engravers ,conductors,film scorers,game music scoring among many others.If you truly want to play music for a living then you will take it however it comes,or at least pursue it.That is what I am doing at least.
