| Thanks, Angie, and everyone else that made it out!
Had a great time on Friday, and it was even better on Saturday. If you haven't seen Maria Y El Sol, check them out. They play at Acapulco fairly regularly. They are a 7 peice group of music majors from the University of Mississippi (Oxford), and they are all great people and excellent musicians, playing latin and world-beat music. On Saturday, we set up on the deck, and were able to get both bands' equipment onstage, and allow us to alternate sets. I think at one point we had 10 people on stage, all of Rochambeau and their horn section and percussionists. We did some pretty awesome renditions of Ants Marching, Lie In Our Graves, Sympathy for the Devil, and Feelin' Allright. I joined them on Bare Necessities (yeah -that Jungle Book song), and Jambalaya, and Chuck Flowers sat in on guitar with them for a few tunes as well. Look for some more combined shows in the near future! |
