Unfortunately, bands know that pay-to-play scenarios have been the norm in record industry cities like Los Angeles for close to 30 years now. So if someone comes in saying they're going to put on a big concert the way it's done iun the big city, a lot of bans OWULD go for that, thinking $100 isn't much to play the Coliseum - the first place the show was supposed to be held.
I'm not sure if the guy went into it as a scam or if he was just an idiot who took the money and ran once he realized he couldn't put it together. He went and talked to people at the Coliseum about booking the place, then that venue in Ocean Springs too.
Now did he do those things just to make it look good, or was his plan just half-baked?
Regardless, he ripped those bands off and that sucks. I just wonder why he'd even do the legwork if he was planning to rip off the bans all along.
I guess it doesn't really matter. Condolences to everybody that got taken, and the guyy will get his eventually.
