It is easy to get pretty jaded from the bands that were "riding Three Doors Down's coat tails." I'm sure there has always been the "We are going to be the bast band ever" jack-asses, but I know it use to be pretty bad when 3DD made it big. Everyone had to play the same formula rock (of course their band was "faster and harder"). It's good to have dreams, and damn, if you can't believe your own hype who will? But come on, it gets old when every band who plays Godsmack covers tells you how they are "making it to the big time." Not in this area buddy. Find a bigger city where people will buy your crap and maybe.

I just miss all the bands that did it for fun and didn't give a crap. You can still work hard towards your goals and have fun with it to. If you get a little luck and make it somewhere, fine, if not keep your day job and enjoy your music on the side.

Sorry for ranting on your thread, enjoy your gigs. If you can have a little fun and make money doing it more power to you. That is what it is really about, not selling out Roseland Ballroom.

Who cares about what 3DD has done? Its been great for them and opens the area up somewhat to talent seekers, and A&R reps.
But you HAVE to have a large local following, then regional, thus crawling before you can walk.
I give 3DD kudos for their hardwork, and success.
They had what it took, and were at the right place at the right time with the right manager,songs, and sound.They are still running with it. More power to them.
If you try to copy them you have no originality so you might as well be a cover band making a few dollars in whatever venue you are packing out.
There is success at all levels.
I'm always successful.
I feel good about what I play and how I play.
Who cares that its a cover song...I put my own flare to it.

Heck my last band had worldwide airplay, but we never got signed.
We dominated nothing.

Dude you can rant on this post anytime.
I agree with most everything you had to say there.
David, when I was 14 I thought you were a bass god. You were an inspiration to me.

Well,,,,, IT'S A SMALL WORLD! I'm signed, they send me a check twice a year regardless if I need it or not. The last time I heard me play on the radio was THURSDAY NIGHT and YES I was on a bus at the JR, show. We're playing THE BULFF in three rivers BECAUSE STRTGHT SHOT was already booked so the bar needed somebody to kill time until they could get there the 29th. It's a good job and we'll enjoy it for what it is. I'm not so sure I'd enjoy world domination nearly as much as I would a local dominatrix.
