Hey Hey.

Chris Mara's spending a little time on the coast the 1st week of August. I have no idea who's talked to him and who hasn't...hence this thread.

Thinking a cool thing to do while he's here is a Meet and Greet kinda thing. This means I pick a bar and we all meet at said bar and have the aforementioned beer. It's a way for everyone (if anyone) who may be thinking about recording new music to hang out and talk about it a little.

Plus, I personally think it would be cool to meet up face to face with the people hanging around here who have ideas about making the way the local scene better. Kinda like a Think Tank...in a bar...with booze

Bring your demo or press kit, sign in with me, get your beer tickets, and I'll pass you over to Chris.

Let me reiterate...free drinks?? And, of course, the idea is for the interested bands and Chris to feel each other out (NOT up!!) and see if some really cool sessions come out of it

P.S> It would be awesome if you guys could bring some material out with you....something Chris can take home and listen to at his leisure...kinda get a feel for what you're shooting for.

I'm not a musician, but it seems like fun...unfortunately that will be my last week with my daughter so I don't think I will be attending. Sorry, folks

So, for anyone here who doesn't know anything about Chris, here's some info.

Chris is an independent rock music producer/engineer from Nashville. He works with bands all over the country all year round. He doesn't have his "own" studio, which enables him to pack up his vast amount of gear, and work in studios near the artists. He also offers "in-home" sessions for acoustic artists...which means, you pick the place (even your own house) and the whole recording session comes to you.

Chris does most of his work in Nashville, Minneapolis, and Cleveland, and also has access to private studios all over the place. He's most recently added the Gulf Coast to his "frequent" list.

After all that, the reason I'm trying to convince you guys that it's a cool idea to come hang out in August (and enjoy some FREE BEER!!) is because there are SO many really good bands around here, and I know 1st hand that Chris brings really cool shit to the table when it comes to sounds and recording techniques, and making the process a completely unique experience every time.

SOOOO--I'll post the exact date & time later this week...and I hope some of you will PM me and tell me you're gonna stop by and see what's up. REMEMBER: There are so many opportunities that DON'T come to you. Don't let the ones that DO, pass by without even thinking about it.
