what would YOU like to learn about??

hey kids-

one of the recording magazines i write for is launching a "tv" website much like youtube, but specifically for recording enthusiasts. they've asked me to submit some footage on various subjects along the lines of "tips and tricks" and/or session footage of subjects that may interest their readers.

i have some ideas that i'm working up; but i thought i'd see what might peak your interest- so i'm open for some suggestions.

so, what type of subjects would drive you to their website and be cool enough for you to stream the video, and interest you enough to start a discussion on the site?

For beginners you could offer a crash course on eq frequencies and their relation to one another.
Or proper instrument miking placement.

How about effects vs. no effects,(Vocally)? and what effects to use with a particular style of voice ...

Okay...forget the hookers.

This is sort of off the subject of gear and how to tweak it, but how about something focused on vibe....and/or different approaches that work for you to optimize and maintain an harmonius session.

well, i'm just guessing here...but i think having video of me "disassembling" a few hookers *might* have a negative impact on my freedom...

hmm..i'll think about it- but offhand i don't think there's such a thing as a "crash course" in proper eq usage. it's like offering a crash course in "how to play a groove". it just takes years of practice...but i'll chew on it...

again, thanks for all the input and suggestions. i took suggestions from several sources, and came up with a list of topics for the magazine's website.

check it out:

http://www.eqmag.tv/

go to lessons -> DIY cable construction .

i've got more topics in the works (mixing, mic shoot outs, tape machine alignment, recording footage) - but this one seemed to get at the heart of many people's requests: how to save money.

there's also a lot of good content on there from the other guys too- so please take a few minutes to poke around.

thanks again,

chris mara
