So Bert; I brought one of my PC's over to Aaron's place to replace his older recording PC. While I was setting stuff up Aaron and I were talking exactly about this subject matter. While we were chatting he plugged the Pod into his Tubeworks amp and his Peavey 4X12 and I was like wanna hear something sweet. So we did almost the same this Bert, ran right to his tube amp and left to the 5150 and if was %$@$^&*%$^ SWEET He was playing his paul and then decided to pull out his ESP (unknown model number but the one that looks like a SG). Any who Aaron is into bondage and loads of frigging demonic shit, wanna know whay I said that? Why thank you for asking Bert... Well after making me feel like a beginner guitar player with loads of riffs and sweet leads he hand me his guitar. It was like playing a frigging 6 string bass; oh my god he is using 13's on that damn guitar. Oh it sounds really great especially with the emg's but I swear that was bass strings on the E-A-D strings. Gotta be a little warped to put anything over 10's on a 6 string........... lol I tried to play a few things and finally bowed to his greatness and ruling over the 13's but I will kick his ass in the world of 10's and under....................... lol Any ways we were talking about doing exactly what you suggested Bert. I am waiting for the new amp (Friday it will be here) to see whats going on then Saturday Aaron and I will be riding to New Orleans to check out a few music shops and maybe one or two places on Bourbon street.

Which POD do you have? One of the bean PODs or an XT Live? The reason I ask is that the PODs actually have more and better models and effects than the SpiderIII heads do anyway.

You know, the BOSS Gt-8 is an awesome modeler as well; many say it sounds better than the PODs. IIRC you can also set the GT-8 up in such a way that it can switch channels on your amp at the same time that it switches effects presets and/or models within the effects unit. In other words, no tapdance! Hit one switch and you get your effects AND your channel switching. I'm not sure if the XTLive does that and since I haven't played a GT-8 I don't know exactly how you set that up, but I know a lot of guys at the Jackson guitar forums love that unit for that ability, plus its sounds.

An alternative is that you use the POD as your preamp and effects unit and use both amps' power amp ins. again, the POD actually has better sounds than the Spider anyway, and it also has pretty damn good 5150 and Recto models. The Marshall models on the POD are not as good as the 5150 and Recto models.

Now it's NOT going to sound AS good as the real 5150, but just for shits try using that model into the 5150's power stage and see if you like it. Because if you can eliminate tapdancing it might be worth a slight compromise. And if it doesn't sound right you don't have to keep it, after all.

PodXt Live with all updates and purchased releases. I am unsure how this is going to roll but for the price and having a 4X12 cab just sitting around I figured what the hell. Also have a very sweet 2X12 cab not being used and 3 combo amps.... Gotta love being able to purchase shit and not to have to sell the stuff to raise cash............

You've got some great ingredients there, man! You should try every variation you can, playing with all that gear you can get some awesome sounds. And yeah, very cool when you can get new stuff without having to sell something else to afford it.

I personally think a POD XT Live into stereo tube power would kick some major ass, if any of those combos are tube you should definitely try one of them pushing the extra 412 and the 5150 halfstack on the other side, using the effects returns to use the power amps.
